Otherworld Philadelphia

Knabe Labs was selected as the lead technical partner for Otherworld Philadelphia, a sprawling 40,000 sq. ft. immersive attraction featuring 55 unique exhibits. Our role centered on designing and installing an expansive LED system consisting of over half a million individually addressable lights, each meticulously integrated to enhance the surreal, otherworldly environment.

From ambient lighting to interactive installations, our team engineered robust control systems that seamlessly synchronized with both custom microcontroller setups and advanced TouchDesigner applications. While other vendors handled the TouchDesigner work, we managed the technical backbone, ensuring flawless communication across various control platforms.

Throughout the installation, our 12-person crew executed complex power distribution strategies to support large-scale LED arrays while maintaining operational efficiency and scalability. Despite the aggressive timeline and budget constraints, we delivered a cutting-edge lighting system that continues to captivate hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, solidifying Otherworld Philadelphia as a premier destination for immersive experiences.
